Ahsay Go - Proxmox Limitations

  1. Proxmox backup set can only be created in the web console using the Backup Assistant.

  2. Proxmox backup can only be run in the web console.

  3. Only Granular Restore can be done using the Ahsay Go backup client.

  4. Due to a technical limitation in Proxmox VE, bitmaps linked to RAW and VMDK disk formats are automatically removed when the VM using these disks is powered off or restarted.

    As a result, Proxmox VE backup may not be able to utilize Changed Block Tracking (CBT) to identify block changes since the last backup for these VMs.

    This behaviour triggers a full backup to run even when "incremental" is selected.

    QCOW2 disk format is not affected by this limitation.

  5. Snapshot based backup is not supported.

  6. Proxmox restore does not include raw restore and Run Direct restore to original and alternate location with manual migration.

  7. Restore to older Proxmox version is not supported. Restore must be done with the same or higher version of Proxmox.

  8. Restore of Non-Cluster VM to Cluster VM is not supported.
