Filter Setup

These are the fields that are available on the filtering module. Every field has its own functionality, and this will guide you to properly utilize the features of each control.

Fields Description
Name Name of the filter of the backup set.
For each of the matched files/folders under top directory

Choice to:

  • Include them - this will include all the directories, files, and folders that matches the specified pattern/s.
  • Exclude them - this will exclude all the directories, files, and folders that do not match the specified pattern/s.
Exclusion/Inclusion Condition in which you have the option to either exclude or include all the directories, files, and folders that do not match the specified pattern/s. The field displayed will depend on the choice in “For each of the matched files/folders under top directory”.
Type

This will only be available for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup sets.

Choice to:

  • Include - you can select to include one of the following for Google Workspace: Users, Shared Drives or Gmail System Label. While Users, Teams, SharePoint Sites, Public Folders or Standard Folder in Mailbox for Microsoft 365.
  • Exclude - you can select to exclude one of the following for Google Workspace: Users, Shared Drives, Gmail System Label or Files/Folders. While Users, Teams, SharePoint Sites, Public Folders, Standard Folder in Mailbox or Folders for Microsoft 365.

The Gmail System Label only applies to Google Workspace backup, where you can select from a drop-down list the Gmail folder which would be included/excluded from the backup.

While the Standard Folder in Mailbox only applies to Microsoft 365 backup, where you can select from a drop-down list the Mailbox folder which would be included/excluded from the backup.

Match file/folder names by

Condition in which you have the option to either use Simple comparison that comes with these criteria: starts with, ends with, and contains or Regular expression (UNIX style).

Simple comparison:

  • starts with - directories, files, and folders with the name starting with a specific letter or word.
  • ends with - directories, files, and folders with the name ending with a specific letter or word.
  • contains - directories, files, and folders with the name containing the specific letter or word.

While Regular expression (UNIX-style) refers to a set of characters that specify a pattern. It is used when you want to search for specific lines of text containing a pattern.

Existing patterns to match The pattern/s that defines the filtering rule. Will not be available for Standard Folder in Mailbox and Gmail System Label.
How to Apply This Filter

Refers to the filtering rule on which directory the patterns would be applied, either on All hard disk drives or This folder only.

If All hard disk drives is selected, the specified filtering pattern will be applied to all available hard disk drives.

While if This folder only is selected, the specified filtering pattern will be applied to a specific folder only.

Apply this filter to all files/folders in

Refers to the files/folders where the pattern will be applied to. Will only be displayed if Standard Folder in Mailbox, Gmail System Label or Files/Folders is selected as the "Type". Only available for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup.

Apply to Apply the created pattern/s to all the files and/or folders. You have the option to select both checkboxes. Will only be displayed for File backup set and if "Files/Folders" is selected in the "Type" field of Google Workspace backup set.
