How to restore your backups on Proxmox VE (AMBaaS version)

Please use the following steps to restore Proxmox VE virtual machines and perform granular restores using Ahsay Managed Backup-as-a-Service (AMBaaS).
a. Restore a Proxmox VE Virtual Machine
- Log in to the AMBaaS web management console and go to Manage Backup Sets.
- Hover over the Proxmox VE backup set containing the virtual machine you want to restore.
- Select Restore from the drop-down menu and click Run.
- Select the backup destination.
- Keep the default Proxmox server destination and leave Run Direct disabled.
- Click Next.
- Keep Choose from files as of job selected. Select a version to restore.
- Select the virtual machine you want to restore.
- Verify that the virtual machine does not currently exist on the Proxmox VE server.
- Return to the AMBaaS web console and click Next.
- Under Restore Options, keep the default virtual machine name or enter a new name.
- Keep the default restore option Restore as new copy and leave the storage settings below unchanged.
- Click Restore to start the restore job.
- Go to Home > Live Activities and open the Restore Status tab to monitor the restore.
- After the restore completes, open the restore report and verify that the virtual machine was restored successfully.
- Open the Proxmox VE server and verify that the restored virtual machine is present.
- Power on the virtual machine and verify that it boots successfully.
b. Perform a Granular Restore
- Ensure AhsayOBM is installed on a Windows machine.
- Proxmox VE granular restore requires AhsayOBM to be installed on Windows.
- Log in to AhsayOBM using the credentials for your AMBaaS web console account.
- Click Restore and select the Proxmox VE backup set.
- Keep the default backup destination.
- Take note: It is recommended to select a local destination to reduce recovery duration and downtime.
- Keep the restore mode Restore individual files inside virtual machine (Granular Restore).
- Verify the Temporary Directory.
- Make sure it is not located on the Windows system drive or a network drive.
- This directory is used to store data from the mounted virtual disk.
- Update the temporary directory if needed and click Next.
- Enter the encryption key to continue.
- If prompted, click Install to install the Virtual File System (VFS) driver and wait for the installation to complete.
- Select the backup version to restore.
- Choose from files as of job is selected by default. Select a version to restore.
- Select the virtual machine and expand it to verify that the virtual disk containing the required data is available.
- Click Next.
- Select a drive letter for the mounted virtual disk and click OK.
- Mount the virtual disk containing the data you intend to restore. Once the virtual disk is mounted, click Browse to open it.
- Locate the file or folder you want to recover.
- You can preview the data directly from the mounted drive
- Or drag and drop the selected file or folder to a local destination.
- Open the destination folder and verify that the selected file or folder has been successfully restored.
