Upgrade Advisory - Critical Fix for Proxmox VE Backup in AhsayCBS v10.1.6

We have identified a critical issue affecting Proxmox VE Backups in AhsayCBS v10.1.0 - v10.1.4. We strongly recommend all partners and customers utilizing Proxmox VE modules to upgrade to AhsayCBS v10.1.6 immediately to ensure data integrity.

Issue Description:

During the backup process of a powered-on Virtual Machine (VM), the Proxmox-assistant-VM (PaVM) correctly called the Proxmox Host to generate a snapshot. However, due to the current handling logic, the PaVM captured data from the Live Disk rather than the Snapshot.

Impact:

If the VM’s operating system disk undergoes significant changes during the backup job, for example, a large Windows update or high I/O activity, the backup file may contain inconsistent data. While the backup job will still appear successful, the VM may not be bootable after restoration.

Solution:

This issue has been resolved in AhsayCBS v10.1.6. The handling logic has been corrected to strictly utilize the created snapshot for backup.

Post-Upgrade Information:

  • Mandatory Full Backup: Upon upgrading to v10.1.6, the first subsequent backup job for Proxmox VMs will automatically trigger a Full Backup. This is to establish a new, consistent data block.
  • Previous Recovery Points: Recovery points created before this full backup may encounter the inconsistency issue described above and should not be relied upon for disaster recovery.
