Taking snapshots of VMware virtual machines using the Snapshot Manager is not a backup solution. An Ahsay backup can help you protect and recover your virtual machines in the event of outages.

Please use the following steps to backup Virtual Machines (VMware vCenter) using AhsayOBM.

  1. Launch AhsayOBM.
  2. On the AhsayOBM login screen, enter your login credentials and click [OK] to continue.
  3. Click the Backup Sets tile.
  4. Click the + icon to create a new backup set.
  5. Enter the name of your new backup set then select VMware Backup as the backup set type. Click [Next] to continue.
  6. Select VMware vCenter 5.5 / 6 / 6.5 / 6.7 / 7.0 / 8.0 as the version.
  7. Type the username and password of the administrator account. Leave the default setting for the Port which is 443. Click [Next] to verify the connection with the vCenter server.
  8. Select the settings, virtual drives, or virtual machines that you wish to backup. Click [Next] to continue.
  9. Create an automatic backup schedule. Click the + icon to add a schedule. Click [Next] to continue.
Enable "Run Retention Policy after backup" when creating a backup schedule.
  10. Select the Backup mode and click the + icon to add a storage destination. Click [Next] to continue.
  11. Use the default setting for Granular Restore. Click [Next] to continue.
  12. Use the default setting for Encryption. Click [Next] to continue.
  13. Secure the encryption key and keep it in a safe place. Click [Confirm] to continue.
  14. Click [Backup now] to start a backup job or click [Close] to exit.
The automatic backup will start at the schedule set in step 9.
